Xerocole™ - Men's Desert Hiking Boot
The Xerocole™ (Zee-Ra-Kohl) is a Men's desert hiking boot built for performance. Whether you are hiking in Moab or tackling the Arizona Trail, the Xerocole provides all day comfort, best-in-class breathability, durability and protection while on the trail.
The Xerocole is designed with a roomier fit. Therefore, We recommend if you have wide or fuller feet choose your normal size. For people with a narrow or low volume foot, we recommend sizing down 1/2 size from your measured or usual size (e.g if you are normally an 11, go with a 10.5).
The Xerocole is Biocircular™, meaning it is made only from materials with 100% proven paths back to nature, is repairable through the Erem Reboot program, and can be re-streamed into new, ‘tough as a cactus’ boots over and over again.

Built For Desert Performance
The Xerocole upper is held together with stitching rather than adhesive lamination (which is the industry norm). This allows the 18oz, woven canvas and reverse, full-grain leather upper to truly breathe. The upper is loose-lined with moisture-wicking, 100% Tencel™ Lyocell to regulate foot temperature and naturally prevent odor.
The Xerocole features a single-piece, rubber sole stitched to the upper to prevent delamination while enabling repairability. 1.8-2.0 mm reverse, full-grain, leather in the upper is a robust yet flexible material that provides puncture and abrasion protection on all critical wear-points.
A three-quarter gusset and padded collar keep out trail dust and debris, preventing odor, irritation, and blisters. An integrated, 3.0 mm toe bumper smooths out uneven footing while a wood-fiber shank board gives torsional support and protection in rocky terrain. Deep, 6.0 mm tread lugs ensure steady traction even in loose substrate.
All Day Comfort
Erem’s shock-absorbing insole firmly cradles the foot with a contoured and molded cork footbed that promotes long-term foot health and all day comfort for a desert hike. Handmade in Portugal from rescued cork crumb, the insole is topped with just the right amount of natural latex foam for plush, all-day comfort.
Made with only materials that have a proven, safe, and timely path back to nature, repairable through the Erem Reboot program, and able to be re-streamed into a brand new ‘tough as cactus’ footwear, the Xerocole represents the future of sustainable outdoor performance, today.

Care & Cleaning
How to Care for Your Xerocoles
1) Reverse grain leather is a very durable material. Still, for best performance, clean regularly
2) If the leather gets wet, we suggest stuffing the boots with paper towels or newspaper while they dry to help the boots keep their shape.
3) Always let your Xerocoles dry naturally. Don't put them near / under direct heat.
4) Some people think that reverse grain leather looks best when brushed. Use specialized suede brushes for best results.
How to Clean Your Xerocoles:
1) Remove the laces from your boots for full access to the tongue and gusset.
2) Use a shoe brush and shoe wipes to remove dirt and debris from the suede and canvas.
3) Mix mild dish detergent into a bucket or sink filled with cold water. Do not use bar soap or detergents as many contain additives that can be harmful to suede and canvas.
4) Using an old toothbrush, dip it into the soapy water and gently brush in a circular motion to clean.
5) Without getting any water inside of the boots, use a clean, damp cloth and rinse the soap off. Repeat until the boot is clean and all traces of soap are removed.
6) Crumple up a few sheets of paper towel or newspaper, and stuff it in the boot to help the boot keep its shape while drying.
7) Place the boots in a well-ventilated area and let the boots dry naturally. We do not recommend putting your boots in the dryer or any heat source under any circumstances.
Other Cleaning Tips & Tricks
Always allow your boots to air dry. If your boots get wet, make sure to remove the footbed insole to ensure the interior fully dries.
These rock! They are super comfortable right out of the box, and require minimal break-in. The breathe well, have great grip, and look great. The soles are a little softer than some other boots, if you are backpacking with a heavy load these may not be the best choice. But for 99% of the time, these are my new go-to boots when I head out the door.
Good a bit wide the shoe
I wear a 14W in all of my Lowa hiking/hunting boots. I got the 13 and they fit. They were too roomy so I replaced the the footbed with a Protalus M100 and they fit perfect. It took awhile to break-in and now I wear them all of the time.
Fits out of the box, good sign...
just started using and have not gone into the hot climate final intention of use... and the shoelace on one boot came with a burr/lifted stitch on it and was wondering if we can get another set of laces... they are structurally ok, just dint want the burr to catch on the bush when going thru it... can i burn the raised stitch with a match to seal it buy a half size up,,, tho roomy, if yu wish to use a thick sock... and i have a wide foot, and my actually size fits...10.5....
